May Your Future Be Merry and Bright
In some respects, things are slowing down around here and in others, there is a lot going on. Our staff recognizes how difficult this time of year can be for the moms in Project Pride who don’t have custody of their children (yet), the homeless who are dealing with very cold and wet weather, and the substance user who may be carrying around a lot of guilt. Yesterday I was able to witness one of the many small blessings that EBCRP receives every day; the kind volunteers from One Warm Coat came by during the Outpatient Services holiday party to drop off outerwear in all shapes and sizes. They were invited in to join the festivities but had other deliveries to make. The Outpatient party was terrific. It started with each person being able to choose two wrapped presents. Some chose gifts for themselves, while others took the opportunity to pick out something for a loved one. After the gifts, a holiday meal was served to everyone in the program. There was laughter, a few tears, and tons of smiles and hugs. In all, a very bright day.
