Managing Mental Illness

Our Philosophy

EBCRP has long been recognized as a leader in the understanding and care of mental illness.

Realizing this is a broad spectrum, we utilize an entire team of professionals to help diagnosis, treat, and manage the most troubling symptoms.

Our care is centered on the individual and will draw upon their strengths to overcome barriers.

The majority of our programs are available daily, and may include group counseling, individual counseling, psychiatry, medication management, and case management.

Our work with individuals and families is always client centered, and treatment may involve housing and vocational readiness, as well.

Mental Illness and Substance Use

Addiction is common in people with mental health problems.  According to reports published in the Journal of the American Medical Association:

  • Roughly 50 percent of individuals with severe mental disorders are affected by substance abuse;

  • Thirty-seven percent of alcohol abusers and 53 percent of drug abusers also have at least one serious mental illness;

  • Of all people diagnosed as mentally ill, 29 percent abuse either alcohol or drugs.
